Welcome back, dear reader! In this month's edition of our "Behind the Leash" series, we are excited to shine our employee spotlight on Madeline! She's been a dedicated dog walker and adventurist with Off Leash since June 2023 and we are so lucky to have her on our team. Read on to learn more about the dynamic and fun person behind the leash!
Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how long you've been a part of our team?
A: I joined the Off Leash team back in June 2023. I used to work at Central Bark Eastside back in college and missed hanging out with dogs all day. I also work part-time as a graphic designer for a small design agency and apparel company. When I am not working, you can find me volunteering at the Wisconsin Humane Society or playing ultimate frisbee.
Q: Share a memorable or heartwarming moment you've had with a client's pet.
A: The first time I took Monty to Kletzsch Park. It was a perfect summer day and we had the park all to ourselves. He was so excited to check out all the trails by the river and had the biggest smile on his face.
Q: Do you have a favorite pet or client story you'd like to share?
A: Flat-faced and bully breeds are my weakness. Herbie is one of my favorites because he does a happy dance every time I see him and you can tell how much he values our walks.
Q: Besides working with animals, what are your hobbies or interests?
A: I am a huge foodie who loves trying out new restaurants, especially brunch places. I run a brunch instagram account where I post recommendations and all my meals. I play ultimate frisbee in leagues and on a summer club team. I enjoy traveling to new places and experiencing new things.
Q: Do you have any pets of your own? If so, tell us about them.
A: I have a blue nose Pitbull, named Blue. She is the sweetest girl who begs for affection everywhere we go.
Q: Are there any favorite dog parks or pet-friendly spots you recommend in our area?
A: Blue isn’t that excited to go on walks but she loves checking out the breweries and bars around us. Some of my favorites are: Ope, Lakefront (outside only), Eagle Park (outside only), Enlightened, and Art Bar.
Q: What's your go-to tip for clients looking to provide the best care for their pet?
A: Be patient and listen to your pet! Animals communicate using body language and sometimes I think people forget to pay attention to that.
Q: How would you describe the teamwork and camaraderie among our pet care team?
A: Our team shares a deep passion for animals. Each team member brings unique skills and experiences that allow us to work collaboratively. In times of high demand or challenging situations, our team rallies together, offering assistance and going above and beyond to support one another. This is a team that I feel super valued in.
Q: What do you appreciate most about working with our company?
A: Each day is an opportunity to connect with nature and experience the unbridled joy of a different dog's enthusiasm.
Madeline, your contributions are truly appreciated. Thank you for your dedication to the team, our clients, and the well-being of all the dogs across the city!
